Will my external hard drive still work properly?

I want to make my external hard drive compatible with my PS3. I looked around and I guess I have to delete some partition and replace it with another. I still want it to work normal with my computer also though. I want to know if I delete this partition if it will hinder the performance of the hard drive or make it not work as well with my PC.

I an way yes and no.

I believe that the PS3 can only recognise Fat32 file system and your drive is probably NTFS if you use windows.

The drawbacks for "downgrading" to Fat32 are the following:

    Maximum file size 4GB

Maximum partition size (windows formatted) 32GB

It won't effect the speed of the read/write as the drives read/write is more than likely faster than USB so you wouldn't notice any difference if it did make a slight difference.

This will only effect you if you need to store files larger than 4GB (Films???)

    Hope this helps
