i will disagree with you on this one and i will choose pink floyd,the wall.

Elvis's progression as the king of pop was do in high part because of the closeness of the delta blues and blues in general and more with the antics of his stage presence than anything else,thus you will note the crazy dance moves that elvis does as more evidence of his popularity because it had people talking and thus the media started investigating him.

as with PF's the wall it was probably the first and only rock album to have a world wide influence on young people that it would be banned in south africa because of the strong lyrics.other artist to consider in that era that are more influential are buddy holly,chuck berry,chet atkins .

and in closing i find elvis more of a showman than a true musical artist.

This answer depends on what genre you specifically want.

But I agree, without Paranoid there would be no Metal, or subgenre of it, so I would say either Paranoid or Sgt. Peppers for overall most influential album ever.
