Does a 3rd gen ipod use the same connector cord as a 2nd or 4th gen ipod?

I have a 2nd generation ipod, but it's broken beyond repair. I still have the cords and a transpod fm transmitter for my car that work w/ my 2nd gen ipod.

I'm looking to buy a new/used ipod. If I get a 3rd gen, will it work w/ my cord/ fm transmitter?

    Yep... all iPods/iPhones use the same USB connector.
