I would say it is the headlight switch has gone bad. Had same problem on my 94 ford explorer. There about $30 at the parts store.

    Hi

The reason you have this problem is someone has put rear light bulb's in either the wrong way or the wrong bulb, make sure you do not have a single pin bulb in a twin socket or a twin in a single socket

There are some right idiots on here, that mark answers down about things they obviously know nothing about, the type of home mechanic that you could write what they know on the back of a postage stamp.

Possibly you have blown the filament side of your bulb for tail light.

buy 2 double filament bulbs suited to your car, replace the old ones, checking that the plugs have not become rusty.

tailights are on all the time, brake lights on occasionally, , as for someone fitting the wrong, single filament bulb, bull, they just don't fit in the holder!

if fuses are good and bulbs are good then check ground connection.
