Help with choosing gear for a beginner snowboard?
I'm about 140 lbs, so I'm pretty sure I'll need about 148-152, right? But I was hoping to get some good brand names of snowboards that are good for beginners.
I was looking online and it doesn't exactly say what type of rider the boards are best for. I'm a beginner, I don't do tricks/jumps, but I don't fall (lol).
And I was also wondering what size boot I'd be in womens. I'm a size 8 shoe, so would that be a medium?
And I was looking at some Flow bindings, what're your opinions on those? They seemed like the best bet for comfort and ease.
Okay good on the binding then, thanks you guys. And yeah I heard height doesn't matter :P.
I thought the boots came in small/medium/large? (Am I going nuts? haha)
So a 155 would be better and then... what brand is a good one? Just K2 and one of my buddies said Flow. I can spend up to $225 on one... and I was looking online which doesn't help much with what brand is good for beginners.

since you don't do tricks look at getting a freeride or maybe an all mountain board but you don't need a freestyle board
148 is probably a little small for a freeride board you should probably look at something more towards a 155
boot sizing varies you should really go try them on i know my shoe size is 15 but my boot size is 14
most flow bindings aren't that good if you are going to get them you should look at the NXT's the other ones have issues with breaking. I don't know about the comfort of them because i've never rode them but theres really no reason you can't ride the traditional strap bindings its good to get used to them because if you ever get really into the park you won't want flow bindings

I just got into snowboarding this season. The season is ending so a lot of retailers are dropping their prices. I recommend going to the shop and talking to an actual salesperson or pro though, not just grabbing what is the lowest priced item. I went to an REI and the folks there were very helpful. They steered me towards gear that is right for my height/weight and limited experience. I was lucky enough that all my gear was on clearance too so I saved a lot. Burton Lux 150 board for $200 (normally $400), Burton Stiletto bindings for $70 (normally $150ish I think), coz it was the last size available. My Burton boots I got at Dick's though, for $50 although I did try several other pairs and these were the ones that feel the most comfortable. Again I was lucky that these were also on sale. I got sale priced ski pants at Sports Authority for $30. The brand is Alpine Slalom. They held up last night well and kept me dry and warm. I still wore them with a pair of UnderArmour cold gear pants underneath, which I already have for figure skating. The coldgear pants cost $50 but are very durable and can be used for a variety of winter activities.

Go with a 154 or 155
Boots you should defiently try on
I'd suggest Ride bindings instead
You might want to take a look at K2 or ROXY boards which both have some good options for beginners.

Lol why would we need to know her height???? her weight is way more important. Get more of a 154 for starters sense you wont need a smaller board for tricks, a little bigger board helps for carving. Now for the boot i'm not sure but i would guess a medium. Flow bindings...well i've ridden a few but they are the most responsive bindings out there, most of them are made for fast in and out. Its nice to get a lot of runs in but i don't care for them and wouldn't recommend them. my top 2 favorite bindings brand are union and ride.
