Okay I was just like you one year ago. Around October your school will have like a magnet school's fair telling you about the magnet school's in your district. Most school's have an open house(open house's are usually sometime in January) where they invite all prospective students to come tour the school and ask questions. I strongly recommend going to your top 3 school's open house. School's can do applications electronically or on paper. If it's electronic you will do it online if it's paper you can bring it to the school or mail it. Around October you should ask your counselor for information to apply. Applications are due like someday in early February. They use your 1 semester grades. You have to have all A's and B's and high citizenship. Once you send in your application the results will come in early April or late March. Their are three outcomes

Selected- which means you made it into the school.

Alternate Pool- Which means you qualify to attend the school you just weren't selected out of a random drawing. BUT if you really want to go to that school and someone drops out you can get a spot. Remember if you are in an alternate pool spot ALWAYS call the school you wish to attend they can help you get a spot that becomes available. (My friend didn't make it into the school at first, but her mom called the school every week and asked if any positions opened up. Eventually my friend got the spot so call!)

Not Qualified- It means your grades aren't up to par and you didn't make it :(

This can be a stressful process.(especially if your zoned for a bad school like 20 minutes away)My tips would be to

    ♥Keep your grades up

♥Tour school's to decide which one's you like

♥Apply for more then one school

♥Know which school you really want to get into.

♥Call the school(trust me calling them helps tons)

♥Stay positive(seriously during my whole process I knew I was going to get in and my friend thought she wouldn't get in. In the end I got in and she didn't. My positive attitude helped ALOT.

♥Have a backup plan- just in case you don't get into your top choice school.

♥Most school's have a ton of programs. Check out which programs interest you the most.

♥Don't give up- If you make it into the Alternate pool keep trying. Some school's accept kids almost a week after school has started.

♥Involve your parents- it may sound like the worst idea ever but they can help you! Your parent's will help you get into a good school.

♥Check the school websites- the websites can not only be super informative they can almost draw you into to the school or keep you out.

Good Luck Getting Into a Good School :D

It depends on what kind of school you are applying to. If you want to go to your local public school, contact your school district who will send you your school information.

In order to apply to a public school in another district contact that school district.

Applying to a private school though is a little different. I recommend calling the main line. They can direct you to the admissions people who will tell you what to do from there. You may be required to take a test such as the PSAT and/or come in for an interview.

You can "apply" to any school honestly at any point in the year. It is best to do so in the summer before school starts. Many school's have orientation for 9th graders so it is best to apply before then as well.

    Good Luck!

Normally each school has a specific application to fill out and exams to get in/ place you in your classes. I suggest contacting the schools that you wish to apply too's guidance department once school is in session for more information about the application. Good Luck!

All you do is go to the school and ask them for a registration sheet. You should probably do this about half way through the year.

You don't need to apply for high school. Your school zone will send you your homeroom teacher, yu go to orientation, and bam.

i pretty sure you don't apply for a high school but you can register for a transfer if your switching schools

  • The school does it automatically
