    Best places to eat?

For upscale- el bizcocho at the rancho bernardo inn (sorta northeast of san diego) , addison (del mar), market (del mar) are nice too. Casual bistro- i like cafe chloe.

    Drinks-

What's your style? Nice, experimental cocktails? More atmosphere? Wild Nightlife? Conventional wisdom says you can get whatever you want in the Gaslamp or at any of the rooftop/poolside bar lounges in the hotels in downtown. Creative drinks, i like currant in downtown, or starlite on india street.

    For sunsets-

Anybeach is nice, but North San Diego beaches are nicer- La Jolla Cove/Shores area and Torrey Pines is pretty nice.

If you want to combine getting a drink with sunsets i like a couple of places, the Hotel Del Coronado has a outside bar area over looking the beachwater.

and pretty much any of the nice restaurants in La Jolla overlook the water. George's at the Cove is especially nice.

There's some popular ones that aren't beach front (island prime) or waterfront (mr. A's) but still nice.

For tide pools, La Jolla is prob the best-

Tourmaline Surfing Park: You can reach it by walking north along the beach from the parking area west of La Jolla Boulevard at the north end of Pacific Beach. There are many tide pools nestled in the sandstone which is full of cobblestones. Hermit crabs and sea snails are very common here. On a good low tide, you will have a chance to see sea urchins and brittle stars, or an octopus if you are lucky. Don't forget that you are one of thousands of people who visit this beach; do your part to protect the marine life.

Shell Beach, La Jolla: This little beach has a fairly good tide pool area at low tide. It is at the south end of Ellen Browning Scripps Park in La Jolla at the bottom of a small cement stairway. But the surf is fairly strong here, and you won't be able to see much sea life, unless you come when the tide is really low, preferably a minus tide. The big attraction of this beach is Seal Rock Reserve, a big rock offshore where seals and sea lions come to rest and sun themselves. A few years ago the reserve was expanded to include the sandy cove just to the south of Shell Beach.

My sought after downtown eating places are no longer steak properties. they're a million) Rama Thai at 327 4th highway, the suited thai downtown, and a couple of) Indigo Grill in Little Italy, a southwestern eclectic run by skill of Chef Debra Scott, considered one of San Diego's suited. in case you'll have an excellent steak, i pick to advise taking a cab to Harbor Island (close to the airport), and going to Island top - extra beneficial than any of the chains for steak.
