House training 13 week old, storms..?

I have a 13 week old boxer. I got him at 8 weeks. Today the weather was pretty bad but the last several hours it's been ok although there are some storms within probabaly a 20 or 30 mile radius. I don't think the puppy likes the rain. Today he messed up by taking his morning Pee on the sidewalk, his noon pee on the stair way to go outside, his afternoon pee in his crate without whimpering to me, and his last pee outside the crate in my room on his leash resisting to go outside. Keep in mind there is no thunder I can hear and there is no rain.

Also, I have a new person that has been moving some stuff in today upstairs but he has been gone for a few hours now too. What is wrong ? b/c this puppy had been making such good progress? thanks.

I am not sure what the person that is moving has to do with the question...maybe the noise or banging of boxes. Regardless, many dogs are frightened or get upset with stormy weather. They sense it. They smell it...and they can feel the change in barometric pressure, and static in the air long before it storms...even if it is miles and miles away..and never arrives in your area! And sometimes, they just don't like the rain!! Heaven forbid my Tzu gets his feet wet!! Watching him try to avoid dew on the grass is pretty funny!!

But your dog is still a puppy and will probably have accidents, whether it is raining or not. IMHO, ignore the accidents and praise and reward the good behavior. Reinforce the good behavior with praise and treats. And make sure you clean where he has peed thoroughly so it doesn't attract him to continue to go there again.

If you don't catch him in the act, ignore it and just clean it up. If you catch him, then make a loud sharp noise..EH EH or clap your hands to distract him and immediately take him outside. If he goes, reward him. But he may not go because you interupted him. But interupting him and getting him outside will help him learn that outside is where you want him to go.

    Good luck.
