email address unavailable, yet does not exist.?
I tried to open a new gmail address using (I'll call it something else here) "crossroad". It said that address was unavailable.
I already have an address "mary.crossroad". I thought perhaps this other address was the reason "crossroad" was said to be unavailable. So I sent an email to "crossroad", but I received a message back that said that address did not exist.
How can an address be unavailable, but yet does not exist? Is there anything I can do to still get "crossroad" since it does not exist or belong to someone else?

It is possible at one point that mail address was in use, then canceled. I do not think Yahoo recycles old addresses.
