How do you feel about this clunker refund?

Personally, the government bails out the auto industry, and again this is bailing out the auto industry, as well Im helping pay for my neighbors car. This isn't helping the poor, the needy. You still have to have money to buy a new car. Why is the Car industry getting so much bailout, there are lots of industries in trouble?

To me is more Government controll, SPend your money here, and we will help you.

There taking our money, and telling us where to spend our money.

If it was a must, why not spread it out evenly to everyone?

Am I looking at it to deeply?

Update:

I see your point, but I still think it should be across the board.

the 3 billion could be put equally into the peoples hands that they are taking it from.

This is not directed at our MF industry, as it does not exclude foreign cars, in fact it help foreign car mf more as they make the smaller cars.

Our backbone is hardly auto makers, most of those are gone. Our back bone is still small business, unfortunately mostly selling foriegn goods.

Update 2:

Any boost in job creation this caused I really do not think will help the unemployed. You didnt see the banks hiring after their bail out, you saw lay offs. You saw lay offs after they bailed out the car industry. Companies are not jumping on these as oppurtunities to hire, they are freezing, and waiting to see what happens, and take what ever charity that comes there way. This helping remove a back log of mf goods, more than creating new jobs.

And I agree it does have trickle down effect, no doubt. I just think it would be more fair to let us choose where we spend that money.

4500 is quite a bit, why not 2500,? Or 1500. Seems a little unbalanced.

Car dealers make money selling new cars. The salesmen and women get commissions on the sales. They take that money and spend it in the economy. That money creates new jobs. The poor people you are worried about have the opportunity to get a job and join the workforce. The more money that gets pumped into the manufacturing section of this nation, the more people get jobs. It's that simple.

The program wasn't intended to help the poor and needy. It's purpose is two fold: 1) Get the gas hungry cars off the roads and reduce our dependence on foreign oil while helping our environment. And 2) get our industrial base moving again which is the backbone of our economy.

Just another Obama give-a-way program that the taxpayers will pay for.

So far those auto dealers haven't got a dime back. They are left holding Obamas bag right now

I know some who are desperate for a reliable vehicle.
