It isn't like being hit in the stomach with anything, because it isn't your stomach that hurts. The muscles in your lower abdomen contract with such extreme force, that it feels like it could literally lift you up off the bed. Think about what it feels like to do a sit up, then imagine those same muscles trying to lift up a car. The pain is extreme, it's mind bending, it's incomprehensible, but imagine, many of us are willing to go through this multiple times...It will hurt, no doubt about it, but it's nothing you can't handle, we're built for it.

P.S. I don't know how you feel about natural birth, but you may want to discuss an epidural before hand, because in some cases, if you are adimant about going natural, when the time comes an anesthesiologist may not be available to you. Give it some serious consideration before you decide.

  • It's actually kinda feels like someone if taking your intestines and playing double dutch with them. Take menstrual cramps and kick it up like 50 notches!! In all honesty it's different for everyone, some ladies don't have a big problem others have a lot; it all really depends on your pain threshold. I strongly recommend a epidural; the doctors can adjust the amount of how much you get..i had one with both my kids. Congrats!
