Is any version of MS SQL free?

I just downloaded the 2005 express edition, its installing, but I'm not totally sure if it's free yet.

    SQL Server express is totally free, and MS swears it always will be.

    ms sql express edition is completely free but many features are not available

    if you want sql with proper features you must have ms sql enterprise edition and not the express edition.

    its useless to have the express edition

    Anything made by MS is usually going to cost you.
