baking soda!
i use it every once in a while, just put it on my toothbrush when I'm brushing my teeth.. I'm not sure what it does to enamel though but it's a lot cheaper

brush your teeth very well and gradually your teeth will whiten becuz your doing such a good job of cleaning all the tartar that there won't be any plaque that causes yellow teeth

i've heard that rubbing the pith of an orange against it will do the trick.
