I knew plenty of people who never held an instrument until their senior year of high school, and by the end of the season, they weren't half bad either. Its all about what you have the motivation to do. Most of my hobbies have been things I've tried once that stuck with me.

Maybe try a class at a community center. The one near me always has something for cooking or painting going on. Some of the hobby stores I know also do free seminar stuff too. My favorite scrapbook store is always holding inexpensive workshops if you like taking pictures of your life and want to document it in a pretty way.

Hobbies aren't necessarily something you have to collect or create either remember. Travel is good for the adventurous. Volunteering and mentoring are great for the socially inclined. It's all about what sort of traits you have and finding a way you enjoy using them most.

If you want to play a musical instrument and are never too old for is the guitar. It's fun and easy! Or try scrap booking with your friends, it's fun and you could get together and have cake and tea while all of you sit around the table with photo's, paper and embellishments. You can do theme pages like autumn or spring, when you were born or my pets or my beat friend. Go to www.hippobay.com or www.auction-it.co.za for embellishments. Also try doing jewelery as their is a craze for chunky rings, bracelets now. Head to your nearest bead shop and make jewelery and sell them. Have fun!

Anyone can learn to sketch! It's very cheap too, all you need pencils, paper and a perhaps a good "how to sketch book". You can sketch anywhere, so it's portable, and its rewarding and fun! You can always frame the sketches you are proud of too!

    Try counted cross stitch.

Easy to learn when you have relatively little experience you can make gifts for family and friends.

If you haven't done music, it will be more difficult, but if you don't try now, soon you will be even older.

    Have a list of crafts
