Most lizards prefer live crickets or mealworms. His color could be the result of stress, temperature, or even just his natural coloring. Green anoles range from dark brown to vibrant green. You should be concerned if he begins to look greyish, blue, or even black. If he isn't warm enough he will not eat because he can not digest the food properly without high temperatures. The temperature in the hottest part of the terrarium should be around 100 degrees fahrenheit. This is usually directly under his basking lamp. The rest of the tank should be bewtween 75-85 degrees. Here is a PDF of a care sheet you can print off.

yeah. they're called green anoles for a reason.. they do change colors as needed if they feel threatened to blend in well, but generally stay green. if he's staying brown constantly, there's something wrong. could be the eating habits; like they said. try putting in a few live crickets in the tank. he'll eat at his leisure, when he's hungry. small crickets won't be able to bite and hurt him, so there's no worry about that. they also make some reptile powder food supplements you could pick up at your local petstore; you can roll a cricket around in it a little, as per the directions on the label, and drop that cricket in there to help him get proper nutrients. make sure there's a hot rock (preferably a hot rock with variable temperature; don't set it too high, around 90°-95°F) and a basking lamp, and places to hide, and vegetation to hide amonst. also, check humidity. if it's too low, mist him with water from a water spray bottle.

I used to have one. From time to time they change colors. I don't think anything's wrong with it but i'm no expert. As for the eating problem you should really feed it live crickets, Anoles like to hunt their food.

Yes, they can change colors, but darker colours and brown means stress. Feed it live crickets, ensure that there are plenty of hiding spots, make sure the temperatures are right and everything should be fine.

I read "anole" as "anal". A-NOLE. I thought you just spelled anal wrong because, hey, people spell things wrong on here all the time!

Why is my green anal brown? and why isn't he eating?

That's how I read your question and I was just like "wtf?!?!?!?!" Ahhh i'm reallyyyyy glad you're talking about some sort of animal. ahah.
