Why do christians and other religions try to paint atheistss as evil.?

They're not evil, they're just foolish and misguided

I have never met anyone who thinks atheists are evil.

There may be some out there but if you think you are around lots of them then you are in a weird subculture or you are mistaken about what people think.

Evil is what we do, not what we are. So, some would certainly consider it evil if an atheist went around trying to destroy the faith of others, or had some other behavior that could be counted evil. Just being is not a behavior. You can't tell if someone is an atheist by looking at them. Just being not doing anyhing evil or otherwise.

Unfortunately that's what most born again Christians believe that if you don't have a religion or are atheist that you are evil. I call myself a Christian because there is no better term to describe my religion but I think born again Christians are some of the most judgmental people out there. They call you 'evil' because in the Christian religion if you dint believe Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior you are wrong and are going to hell. In my opinion even if you are wrong it is not my place to judge you or to say you are going to hell. Only God can judge and unfortunately most (I'm not saying ALL just most) Christians missed that memo at church. Try not to let them bother you. Don't conform to appease your friends' parents especially when they are so judgmental. Surround yourself with people that accept you for your beliefs and who you are not what they want you to believe or who THEY think you should be. It is OKAY not to have a religion right now. Keep searching for your answers but don't let people pressure you into something you're not sure of. Religion is faith and if you are fake in your religion it's the same thing as not having one. Find your own answers, ask for guidance by people that don't judge but that help you find your answers. Hopefully you will find friends whose parents like you for who you are. Whoever this guy is sounds like a great creep for saying that to you in the first place. Just try to let it go. Good luck

The idea is that you are defying their chosen deity, which is a sin in every religion, thus sinners are equal to evil, as only evil people sin. That's the logic anyways. This is why you see so many Bible thumpers running around trying to say atheists have no moral code or anything like that, when in reality, religious affiliation should not be the final judgement of a person, it should be based upon who they are at heart... but fanatics don't see it that way... oh well...

Painting Atheists are evil has been one of the favorite past times of religious people since there were religious people. I and many other atheists have often been pegged by some religious people as "the worst there is".

Of course, this is changing. With more and more atheists making their lack of belief in God known, we are experiencing more tolerance from the religious and spiritual crowd.

God made each little thing and anybody and has a love for us we cant start to understand, yet considering guy became into made we've been sinful and stopped following Gods word, thats how different religions began simply by fact guy needs to worship the way he needs and do what he needs, so as that they convey about a god that pleases them, thats why you notice many faiths with immoral sexuality, in hinduism they have temples the place you prepare in orgies and that they inspire you to have intercourse with animals, interior the quran it says the jihad could have seventy two virgins who lack character and easily crave intercourse and that the mans penis could have an eternal erection to deal with all of them, that's sinful you will discover the evil in that, and what people dont understand is once you worship something else besides God your unknowingly worshiping the devil for the devil is sin and needs all guy to fall from Gods grace, God loves us plenty once you go and worship yet another "god" its rather undesirable, Say you have a son and you like him better than something and you visit the park sooner or later and each and all the unexpected he sees yet another father and springs to a decision he needs him to be his new father, Your going to be indignant yet its a righteous anger you enjoyed your son better than something and he acts such as you do no longer even exist now. understand?

You are using one person as an example of the many, and it's a fallicy. You cannot go rom the specific to the general only the other way around. It would be like saying Marilyn Monroe was a ditsy blond, All blonds are ditsy...

I can't speak for other religions because I haven't read their book and I have read the bible so ... To answer your question, if a Christian "thinks" you are evil it is because he "thinks" he is evil. We all KNOW we are both good and bad it's just a choice we all have to make. We all know this from the bible ... Do unto others as you would have them do unto you .A true Christian would never "think" bad about others because thinking is doing. Most Christians don't follow the WORDs of god they follow what they Think and what you think is not what you know . Catch my drift?

I don't know what most religions say. But I haven't ever called an atheist evil. Neither have any of my Christian friends. So... I guess this question does not apply to every Christian. It seems more directed at the squeaky wheels who make noise and agitate. Just ignore them.

Atheist are not evil... not at all. They are just lost, and don't believe. At the end of the day, they are still our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Not only do I called them evil people but also fools, simple minded, carefree, and cursed. So what? Run to your mommy?
