I'm a US citizen planning on going to Japan for 6 days, do I need a visa?

    No, U.S. citizens are visa exempted for tourist or business travel for up to 90 days.

    Assuming you're not planning on working or going to school for those 6 days, you don't need a visa. Americans can visit Japan as tourists for up to 90 days without a special visa.

    mm~ if you plan to go there and never come back, yes!! but besides needing a passport, nope. All you need is your passport and money. You will want to shop!
