    Yes it is Canberra. It was chosen as a compromise capital city because public officials in Sydney and Melbourne could not decide which one should be our nation's capital.

    Canberra, but alot of people think its Sydney...

    ive got a few mates that live outside Aus, and they always argue with me that Sydney is the capital hahaha

    Canberra was established as the capital specially as they could decided between Sydney and Melbourne so built a city in the middle. It is built inland for safety reasons so that no one could attack the city by sea.
