After surgery our body is physically drained. This can make us more vulnerable to feeling depressed. I have gotten depressed after having surgeries. It's good that you are getting in touch with the doctor about medication. This type of medication can stop working as well as it once did. It would be a good idea for your Dad to have a Mental Health evaluation because he has had depression before. Losing six members of his family in six months is a really big loss. I hope he will be doing better. Good Luck.
