No blood in part of Brain?

My Mum had a CAT scan yesterday, and they discovered there is a part of her brain that isn't getting any blood flow.

She has told me not to worry, but of course I can't help it.

What does this mean? How is the brain not getting blood flow? How can it be fixed? Is it really nothing to worry about?

I can give you some medical facts. We don't use even a third of the brain that we have. Then if something is pressing on the vessels that take the blood to the brain is present that would be a cause. If the part of her brain effected is one that she isn't needing then I assume it would be something not to worry about. The fact that she is alive and without any symptoms or problems means it's not effecting anything she needs to function or think either. She's walking, talking, thinking and seems okay, right? If all these things are true then there is probably nothing the doctor's will do about it. What was the reason she had the CAT scan? Then that answer might be a clue as to what the doctor's might do if anything too. There are way too many unknowns for anyone even the doctor's to know sometimes. If it's something they can give her medication for then be happy about it. They found whatever they might have been looking for. Try asking your Mum just these questions without getting all out of shape. Sit and discuss this as an adult with maturity and she might respond to you as the daughter you are. The last thing she probably needs right now is for you to get upset about this, at least in front of her. Try to keep everything from getting out of hand. Then if you must, fall apart out of range with someone you can rely on to help you through whatever any problem is. Remember, there isn't any problem unless she tells you there is. Good luck and God Bless
