Surrendered 2 cats to SPCA yesterday?

But I want 1 back... Am I able to get him back? I can't stop crying about it. I had to give them up because of a financial situation... had an unplanned pregnancy and our priorities have shifted. But I miss the older cat terribly. If it means I can't eat for a week to get him back, I will.

Does anyone know how this works? Am I going to have to "adopt" him again?

Update:

I was able to feed him and buy litter... We're able to afford that. Money is just getting tight, so without thinking it through we brought them to the shelter. It's been 24 hours and I hate missing him so much... I'm going to post a pic because he means that much to me

give me a second...

Update 2:

Mister Miyagi wanted to fit inside of that so bad (About 1 yrs old here)

Us napping... I was 8 months pregnant

Mister Miyagi and Sir Charles meeting for the first time... about 9 months ago

Update 3:

$20 for 2 days boarding fee

$10 for shots

$4 for license

Mister Miyagi is BACK home! Never will I give up on him again

And to the girl who said "unplanned pregnancy is the worse excuse"... You're dumb. Understand life. Average to raise 1 child, over $200,000. My hubby and I were NOT ready to have a child, but we are taking full responsibility to our baby.

every shelter is different and has different rules..

I worked at a shelter for 5 years, people always had 72 hours to reclaim a pet unless it was sick or had attacked somebody..

some will require you to readopt the cat, DO NOT WAIT if he is old, he probably will not find a home...

make sacrifices if you have to.. eat lots of canned soup.. cut the internet, cut the cable get rid of your cell phones...

I lived on part time work, minimum wage job.. and stil saved up to buy a house, if you have priorities you CAN live cheap - no more starbucks coffee.. shop at second hand stores for baby clothing...

Most shelters will euthanize when they get full. There is no set time limit. It could be the minute you walk out the door, it could be three days, it could be two months. This time of year though with all of the kittens coming in it will be sooner rather than later. No kill shelters fill up very quickly, and they can stay 'no kill' as they turn down cats. Once you surrender your cat to the shelter, you cannot get them back. Generally also your name is put on their 'do not adopt' list so they will not adopt a cat to you in the future. And no - they will not contact you prior to euthanization. It will just be done, and that's that.

    You gave them up.

To be honest unplanned pregnancy is the worst excuse, You find the money.

When you adopt pets you think about this.

You gave them up, Their gone they'll go to someone who will actually think about this.

I doubt it. Shelters generally don't return pets that you surrendered. You could try to adopt him back, but not all shelters let you adopt if you surrendered a pet before.

If your not finacially stable then no. Think about what's best for the cat. Someone who can properly care for it will adopt him and probably spoil the crap out of him. I know it's hard but just think about his well-being.

If they take them away from you then you usually cannot get them back unfortunately. Sorry.
