I am looking for the title of a children's book about children riding in a shoe?
I only have vague memories of it. I haven't seen it in years. I remember the beginning started as a mother told her children the story of her children riding in a shoe with a sail. It has the moon featured a lot, and something about candy or peppermint. Then my memory fails me. The children were named something silly like Winkam, Inkam, and Nod or Nodd. Then it also had a second story about a calico cat and gingham dog that got in a fight and ate each other, and the plate or the clock saw it all.
This book came in a series of children's books that included The Emperors New Clothes. It had a black and white polka-dotted cover with turquoise binding. On the center of the front cover it had a window with a portrait of the mother and her children. This is a one of a kind story, I don't think it had been published more than once.
I know this story sounds odd, but I'm not making it up. It had beautiful pictures, and I loved it so much. I know it's a long shot, but if anyone knows the title, or has a clue, please tell me.

Both poems appear in many children's books and anthologies.

Wynken, Blynken and Nod
WYNKEN, Blynken, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe,--
Sailed on a river of crystal light
Into a sea of dew.
"Where are you going, and what do you wish?"
The old moon asked the three.
"We have come to fish for the herring fish
That live in this beautiful sea;
Nets of silver and gold have we!"
Said Wynken,
Blynken,
and Nod. ...
The Duel
THE gingham dog and the calico cat
Side by side on the table sat;
'Twas half-past twelve, and (what do you think!)
Nor one nor t'other had slept a wink!
The old Dutch clock and the Chinese plate
Appeared to know as sure as fate
There was going to be a terrible spat. ...
