that's about half the actual life of it right there ,it should run on for another two hundred thousand if you take care of it,but it will be giving some problems, the engine its self should be fine its the external things that will start giving the problems, good luck.

250000 miles is about half this engines life if it has been well maintained and taken care of. Although it still has some wearable parts that might need replaced like the water pump, fuel pump, oil pump, and belt. As for the rest of the truck it just depends on how it was treated and taken care of. Most other things on the truck, though will most likely need some service of replacement, like suspension components, axel components, etc. The transmission is most likely shot though if its automatic. Anyway the motors good, you'll just need to look into everything else that could be wore out, but that motor will probably outlast everything on that truck,if taken care of that is.

I worked in a shop for a lot of years and 250000 miles is not uncommon. The cummins 5.9 will outlast the body of the truck. I would put it up against any other diesel any day.

If you have over 100K miles on any car/truck, that is a lot of miles, but quite franking those cummins will run forever with the proper maintenance.

Here are a few links that should help:

He is definately asking to much, the cummins has much more life in it, but if its an automatic watch out for the transmission. Dodge Chrysler Jeep Tech

She's at half her life. The 12V is capable of well over 500k as long as she's been maintained. However as others have stated, if she's an automatic I pity you. For whatever reason Dodge trannies SUCK, including the manuals. Goerend (out of Iowa) builds them the way they should have came from factory.

12000 miles is considered normal driving mileage. 19 times 12000 equals 228000 miles so the answer is no. That kind of mileage is very good for many reasons.

250,000 miles is a lot on any car. It's most likely running on its last leg. Unless the transmission was just replaced, along with virtually everything else in the car, it's probably not going to run for too much longer.

Engine if maintained is over half it's life gone the truck drive train is well beyond it life.
