if you have a decent local natural food store nearby, they probably have about whatever substitute you might want. i went to an average sized one in texas and have purchased vegan cheeses, sourcreams, whipped creams, and cream cheeses. you can also get egg replacer there which you can use to cook with. i bought a box but have yet to use it in anything.
and really it's pretty easy to exchange/leave out things that will make your now nonvegan recipes.. vegan.
i purchased "the complete idiot's guide to vegan cooking" at a barnes and noble and it's definitely been helpful. it has recipes for any meal of the day and a couple chapters in the front to help you find new substitutes for things and let you know what vegans need for their diets to be nutritionally complete.
and google. i've found lots of good recipes this way.
good luck. =] people will undoubtedly talk sh!t to you and ask questions and criticize.. but be happy and confident about what you've chosen to do.. know that you're not alone.. and that by being a vegetarian/vegan you're living a cruelty free lifestyle.

This is your personal choice. Don't listen to the haters. I'm also a vegetarian in the process of going vegan, or atleast willing to try it. Try Tofutti ice cream. I hate tofu but you'd never know this wasn't real ice cream. I like the chocolate cookie crunch one. As for recipes they are all over the internet. But you can start off with the basics. Chili baked potatoes (Amy's organic chili-mild is great) and you put earth balance butter spread on it and broccoli. It's an easy vegan meal to get you started. Good luck!!!!!!!!!

Yes.
There is soy, hemp, almond, oat, coconut and rice milk. You could even make your own nut milk using cashews.I have seen soy and coconut milk yogurts.Silk soy milk is good, as well as Almond Breeze.
As for ice cream, there are tons.I have seen coconut milk ice cream, soy milk ice cream and rice milk ice cream.I have heard of, but never seen hemp milk ice cream.I recommend Turtle Mountain products, they are amazing, and my personal favorite.
There is Follow Your Heart soy cheese.Nutritional yeast is also vegan and has a cheesy flavor.Tofutti also carries soy cheese and cream cheese.
Protein is in nearly everything.Nuts, whole grains, beans, lentils, fruit, seeds and vegetables all contain protein. If you meet your are most likely consuming enough protein. On average, you need 50 grams, of .8 fo every kilo you weigh.
Make sure to have at least five servings of fruit and vegetables daily.Eat a variety of foods to ensure proper nutrition as well.

There are tons of dairy substitutes - soy milk, almond milk, rice milk, rice cheese, soy cheese, soy yogurt... I personally like Silk brand. It's available at pretty much all grocery stores in North America.
It's totally safe to go vegan if you're supplementing B12 in your diet. Since B12 is added to soy milk/cheese/fake meats, you'll be fine. :-)
BUT... you need to read up on it more. Potatoes aren't a good source of protein. Tofu, beans, lentils, nuts, seitan - yes - potatoes - no.

why..meat is good for you.. it has lots of vitamins that can keep you stay focused and make you look tougher
veg's are just terrible..they are very skinny and look weak
so you better have a reason on why you want to do that

it would be so much safer if you wait till you've finished growing before you start to go vegan
