When getting a rabbit there are standards for finding a healthy animal...i tell you some of the important ones.

First you want to check their ears for black or brown spots in them...if the animal has that dont bring it home because it usually means that its either deaf or has rally bad mites and you dnt want that.

Second you want to check its teeth and make sure it has straight teeth and a little bit of and over bite meaning no malclusion. malcusion is when the teeth start growing toward the throat and might kill it if serious enough

Third you want to check if its but is all one color if it has white bumps or red rashes it either has worms or vent disease and you dont want those bc they are hard to treat.

Fourth you want to check its nose for white drippage meaning i has Snuffles and that is a common disease for a rabbit to get but it can be fatal if serious enough

Fifth you need to chenck its stomach and neck for bumps or absesses for it could have a tumor or cancer or worms. if there are bumps of course...its not rare but it is possible

sixth you need to watch how it behaves in the pet store you get it in...you dont want an animal with a bad temper or one that acts litterally dumb as in wobbling and running in circles or hiding.. those things arent normal for a rabbits behavior...

seventh make sure if your getting a rabbit you have hay avalible at all times and pellets (food) and fresh water alsp dont feed it cherry wood or corn and your pretty much good to go...

eighth a good price for a pet rabbit is ranged for 5 bucks to 30 bucks

anything higher or lower is bad or a rip off

in the pet store if the animal appears filthy and uncared for dont buy it you want to get an animal that is in good healthy condition. Also its best to know what breed it is so when you go to buy it, its best to ask what breed it is or look it up at home. Its much easier to care for a rabbit when you know the breed.

Basically get a rabbit in a clean well cared for environmental pet store and from someone you can trust that they cared for the animal until you buy it.

I've found that Pets at home are often a good pet shop to go to, my local one is excellent, but i have heard bad stories about pets at home though...but, whatever you do don't go to petsmart:

I don't know if you even have a petsmart in Malaysia but whatever.

OR try finding a breeder, theres bound to be a poster stuck to a lampost or in a shop window or something, that's advertising rabbits for sale, so just keep on the lookout.

    So overall:

Pets at home (if there's one near you)

    OR

    A good local breeder.

    hope i helped =)

Find a local animal shelter and get a pet there.

Otherwise, any pet store will do.

When buying the rabbit. Check that it is alert and moving around on its own.

Please, before buying a pet from your local pet store, consider saving a life at your local animal shelter. Every year, there are millions of pets who are put to sleep because the shelters couldn't care for them any longer. If you're looking for a happy, healthy pet looking for a loving home, check out the animal shelters in your area.

If you aren't familiar with any shelters near where you live, check out Pet Finder (website link below). This website is devoted to helping people find animals through their local animal shelters. All you have to do, is put in your zip code or city and you'll find a whole list of animal shelters near you.

It's definitely worth checking out, and takes as little as 2 minutes to do. Hopefully you'll find a loving rabbit through Pet Finder.

Ask someone local who might know :) Otherwise you can browse the petstores near you. You should be able to get a feel for the store itself and see with your own eyes the rabbits they are selling/their condition.
