First of all it's like walking into a cave. The lighting is terrible. Have you taken a long hard look at the surface? It looks like indoor/outdoor carpeting that is about 10 overdue for replacement. It's a dump! The location stinks as well. It's at the far end of St. Pete. Anyone who wants to go to a game has to travel forever to get there. The parking is limited and it's insane trying to get out of the stadium after a game.

Of course it's hot, it's summer! I would like to see the franchise move to either Tampa or Orlando. The fan base would be better in either location and it wouldn't take so long to get to a game.

Frankly Orlando would be a better place because it is the "Hub" of central Florida. As it is, hardly anyone goes to see the Rays except when they play either the Yankees or Red Sox. The pennant honeymoon is over. Maybe 15,000 fans attend home games. That's up from 13,000 prior to them winning the AL last season.

I actually like the stadium its nice. I prefer Yankee stadium but Tropicana Field is nice too. Its a great way to beat the Florida heat. I also love the Sun in center field its cool how they cut the grass that way. I've never been to the stadium but from what i've seen on Tv it seems like the Trop is a perfect fit for the Rays. Oh and the devil ray tank is so cool. I hate the cowbells though and the roof its so easy to lose a fly ball up there. I don't like the catwalks either.

Been there once, I think it was 2001. Eh; I've seen worse (Stade Olympique, easily the worst major league park I ever visited). Roofs don't bother me. The place was near-empty that game so I cannot comment on crowds. Let's just say that, were I to attend another game in St. Pete, I wouldn't be going for the sake of the facility. I'm there to watch a game.

I was struck by the irony that the Tropicana logo shows an orange with a straw in it, but I was unable to obtain a straw (for my young and then spill-prone nephew) for a child sized drink. No concessionaire anywhere in the park had straws. That astounded me as an incomprehensibly stupid policy; littered straws MUST be a better side effect than spilled sodas. Perhaps this has changed.

ps. The location is just awful -- if the Rays move they need to move to Tampa, not make fans drive across that endless causeway just to get there.

Never been, probably never will go.

A barn with a carpet in it does not - and never will - constitute a baseball stadium. There's is nothing about Tropicana field that has anything to do with baseball. I endured years of watching M's games in the equally godawful Kingdome, hopefully I'll never watch another game in a dome or on artificial turf.

As for the heat...cities like Atlanta, Texas, Houston, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Washington all have to endure heat + humidity too (perhaps not every day like in Florida), but they found solutions (or just put up with it). Maybe something with a retractable roof would work well in Tampa for the inevitable afternoon/evening showers.

And those cowbells...makes it sound like a white trash convention, not a baseball game.

dislike it... I don't like the catwalk, the cow bells, the bland roof, the turf and the foul lines in the ceiling. Its a cookie cutter too.

I like the Ray tank tho. (I'll give you that one positive)

No I've never been there and I feel you on the "its hot in Florida"... I would like fr Tampa to build that "sail" stadium they have been talking about for ever... I think it is a great idea and would be one of the best parks in baseball.

Yes I've been to Tropicana field many times, it is a DUMP! Aside from Amway Arena it is the worst sports complex i've ever been to....it' s not a dome because its mega hot, it rains like EVERYDAY, so the dome comes in handy.....but i believe their new stadium that they are supposed to be getting will be outdoors

Okay, it's mega hot in Texas too. We reach 105 + some days and still have an open stadium. And no, I haven't been to tropicana.

I've been to the White Sox game last year in Tampa in June and you are so right. I'm so glad it was indoors because it was like 100 out and just standing in line getting tickets was unbearable. I love their stadium, it's one of my favorites. I even caught a ball during batting practice there and that was the only time I went to BP there.

P.S. The cowbells are stupid and annoying as hell

dont worry...the rays will get the wild card....the soxs will get swept and the rays will get the next 2.....

all baseball teams have bad moment.

my giants lost to the reds while we had a 5-3 lead in the 8th.

how furstrating is that when you give up 10 walks and 5 errors when u have a lead.

trust me...i know how the rays feel

but its worst for the giants becuz we're at home

ive heard the trop is a crap heap, kinda like the HHH metrodome in minnesota. never been there, but have passed it a few times. that dome wont be used for baseball in a couple years though. tampa is building an outside field actually in tampa bay. the designs of this field look awesome. they say from the sky the field is supposed to look like a shell, dont know if that will happen but we will see.
