Question about what "accepted" means on USPS tracking system?

I ordered an item off of ebay and have had some problems with the seller so I finally filed a dispute. She replied to the dispute saying that the item was shipped with USPS and gave me a tracking number.

When I put the tracking number in at the USPS website it says:

Status: Acceptance

Your item was accepted at 9:25 AM on August 7, 2009 in SAINT MATTHEWS, SC 29135. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

Now, in my logical thinking "accepted" means that it the package was accepted by someone at the location in SC, as in it was delivered on Aug. 7th (which I do not live there so it is apparently not me.)

Is that correct? Or does it mean that the United States Postal Service accepted the package or what? There is no where on the tracking info that has a "destination point."

I am just trying to figure out if she is still trying to scam me and gave me some off the wall tracking number to something else or if it really is the tracking number for my package. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks!

It means she submitted the info for shipping online, but it has not been picked up from her or delivered to a shipping station from her yet. In other words it hasn't shipped yet! This has happened to me before with slow shippers.

This is the travel section, but I can try to help.

This "accepted" message means that the package was accepted at the St. Matthews, SC post office 9:25am yesterday.

sounds to me like your package was shipped and now you need to check the tracking system to see it's progress. If you have any questions and want the best advice.. hop in your car and visit any us post office with a printout of your tracking status.

delivery was attempted, got no answer so a card was left giving details of what to do next to re-arrange delivery.
