How long should I workout for?

I just got my YMCA membership today so I can use their gym, but Im not sure how long I should workout for. Im just 14 and I read that I shouldn't push myself too much cause I'm still growing. Im just gonna do cardio workouts ie: treadmill, elliptical, and maybe swim at their pool.

I just wanna lose some of the weight I gained over the summer before school starts. Oh, and can you guys suggest any workout schedule, like monday this and tuesday that.

Lastly, should I workout everyday or every other day? I really wanna push myself cause I gained about 15 pounds in the last 3 months, but not too hard that I'll harm my body.

Thanks in advance.

A healthy balance would be making sure you do a minimum of 1 hour, 5 days a week. So you can have 2 days off where you really are just resting.

Put simply, there are two ways you'd most likely go to the gym:

    - Cardio

    - Weight Training

It is important that even at your age you do a bit of weight training, although you don't need to get into it intensively. Dieting & cardio, if not combined with a little bit of weight training, may result in some loss of muscle mass (and loss of muscle mass means a lower metabolism, thus making it easier to spike back up in terms of fat).

I suggest you do some muscular training 3 times a week at your age, for 45 minutes at a time, and the remaining 15 minutes be cardio. The other 2 days should be purely devoted to cardio.

That'll help you lose weight and keep it off, while toning & building your body safely.

Your diet & sleep are also two things you need to pay close attention to.

You should probably alternate doing cardio and muscle building activities. Doing cardio every day isn't actually bad for you, it's the impact of running (such as on the treadmill) that can be damaging if you do it every day. However if you stick to low-impact, such as the elliptical and swimming, you shouldn't really have a problem. That will definitely help burn off some of those pounds.

You should build muscle too, to tone up and also because muscle burns more calories when at rest than fat, so it will help you lose more weight. This you should only do 3 times a week, on nonconsecutive days.

It's good for you to not want to push your body too hard, but I think you'll be ok. Start off slowly, with shorter, less intense sessions of cardio/weights and work upwards from there. Just make sure to bring water and stop working out if you feel really bad.

    Good luck!!

Actually the time to workout if you want to burn fat

and buld a bit of muscle is to work out between

45minutes to 1hour else testosterone begins to fall

and cortisol levels rise which is bad for what your

goals and little socializing should actually be done.

And focus on exercising key areas that you want

    to tone, shape and enhance.

Good routines are that you work out on 2-3 days,

take one day off then repeat

After each set you should take 60 seconds for cooldown

And the routines i think you should do is switch between A,B and C

on the site provided if you work out 3 days then take a day off

[Other info]: -Energy drinks should not be used[it's like glorified soda]

    -Stay hidrated with water only

-If you do still want to train make sure it is something such as sports

-Make sure you actually need to lose weight, you could have grown

Sorry if my information is not helpful

I am 13 and what i think u should do is not go and workout by time limit but go and workout until u almost feel sore. If your muscles are hurting then go to a different machine and exercise different muscles and then go back but on a different machine so you alternate between upper and lower body stretching and finally as for swimming, just doing an hour would be more than enough.
