Christians, Did you know how to test if a person is from God?
How do you know if you are taking to someone who is from God?
Are you talking to the Antichrist with out knowing it?
Is your best friend a false prophet?
Is your boyfriend from the spirit of error?
We are supposed to test to see if the spirit is from God or not!
1 John 4
Test the Spirits
1Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
4You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit[a] of truth and the spirit of falsehood.

So the question is this: Do you ask the people that you associate with if they confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, so that you would know if they came from God or not? I have to confess I sure don't do this often enough, but I think that I should.

Wow. Your comment reminded me of this. :) Yes, those who believe in Christ and teach about Him and invite others to learn of Christ are of God. Those who teach people not to believe in Christ are not of God.
Moroni ch 7:16-17
16 For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that he may know good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of God.
17 But whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do evil, and believe not in Christ, and deny him, and serve not God, then ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of the devil; for after this manner doth the devil work, for he persuadeth no man to do good, no, not one; neither do his angels; neither do they who subject themselves unto him.
However, I also feel that if you are secure in your own faith in Jesus Christ, though others may not have faith in him, it will not shake you. It seems to go a little too far to think your "best friend is a false prophet" and that your "boyfriend/girlfriend is from the spirit of error."
Be very careful in judgment. It is not wise to be so extreme. Be at peace within yourself and love others as Christ loves you. If you know your Savior well and are confident in your faith in Him, His love will shine through you. And you will be able to discern in a spirit of love and wisdom those who are of God and those who are not.

Character as evidence of someone.
Galatians
5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
5:26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Are you aware that, by implication, the myriad denominations of corporate Christendom deny that Jesus came in the flesh yet claim He did? How do you determine what they imply in the absence of them literally saying Christ did NOT come in the flesh? I know the answer. It is more important to discover what is not seen and what is not heard in order to be assured you are speaking to one of God's prophets and not one of Satan's false prophets.

Yes, I do always ask my new friends about there faith. If they are not Christian , I do not push my faith on them, but continue to be there friends and pray for them and pray for God to open a way for them to find salvation and make opportunities for me to help them learn about Jesus.
The scripture that you point out is talking mostly about if a Angel or other specter appears to you.. That is how you test the spirit.
God bless you and keep on learning you are doing good to ask such questions :)

How do I say this kindly: Sometimes It seems like we have moved out of bondage into freedom- when we have moved deeper into chains. If you feel like you have to test everyone- and they have to respond with certain words to appease you, you are not free. Lighten up.

1 John 4:1........ you only need to discern concerning a prophet. not put regular church going people to any test who just decide to fellowship with you.

You don't around testing someone about their faith. That would be very rude.
What the writer is saying is that you must find out of that particular person if you have a doubt of him/her.
