Good Morning Scooter
1) I think that the Yankees will continue to do well. They are riding a 7 game winning streak but they are going to have to lose sometime. I feel that they will lose to Toronto but still take the series, and the same with Seattle. If they can continue to win series then they should be well positioned for the post season.
2) Boston must be reeling from these losses, however, with the exception of Smoltz, who is no longer wearing a Red Sox uniform, the pitching was strong, very strong. With Wakefield and Dice-K returns looming, they too will be up to full strength. However, of the two teams that you have mentioned they are playing, neither team will be easy to beat.
The Yankee's destiny is in their own hands. If they can continue to gain a game over the Red Sox and Tampa Bay in the weeks to come they will coast into the post season. What they do with this is up to them.

The Red Sox came into this series with more to lose than the Yankees. They had just lost two to Tampa Bay and were heading into this series down 2 1/2 games to the Yankees. I thought the Yankees played a little more care free and had a more concentrated focus on the games. Thursday's game set the tone and the Red Sox never recovered. I just felt like they were going to win all four games after Thursday nights game. I hated to hearthe news about John Smoltz. He was one helluva pitcher.
The Yankees should continue the streak at least through this series against Toronto. Halladay pitched on Saturday so he won't be available. We have no trouble with the rest of the Blue Jay staff. Which Seattle will show up will be the big question on how NY will do against them. I see the Yanks taking three against Toronto but losing one against Seattle.
The Red Sox are a great team and although they looked a little beaten against us I see them regrouping and ending the 6 game losing streak tonight. They will take the Detroit series but will have their hands full with Texas, as is everyone else in the league.

I completely agree with Joe West's sentiments but strongly disagree with how he expressed them. As a fan, I get as frustrated watching it as West does umpiring it. The games ARE too long. I've been watching baseball for forty years, and only recently have these marathon games started to occur frequently. And it's almost always the same two teams. If it was just once in a while, fine. The players are endlessly calling time, visiting the mound, stepping out of the box, stepping off the rubber and many of the pitchers on both teams work at a snail's pace. As much as I love the rivalry, I never watch Yankees - Red Sox games live, only on PVR so I can fast forward through all the BS they engage in. It's time MLB stepped up and in no uncertain terms told them "enough" and passes some rules limiting the amount of crap that goes - no stepping out of the box, no stepping off the rubber (a strike or ball will be the penalty depending on who did it); a limit on the number of mound visits, and batters and catchers cannot call time once the pitcher is on the rubber and the hitter is in the batter's box. Four hours for a nine inning game is absurd. If they keep that up, people are going to start saying X is right.

1. I think the Yankees will continue rolling. The Jays and Mariners are mediocre teams
2. I think the Sox will continue slumping. The Rangers will be tough for the Sox, but should win at least one in each series

1) I think the Red Sox just got the Yankees warmed up
2) I've been saying for the past three weeks that the Red Sox are going to get out of their offensive slump, but it just hasn't happened so I don't see any reason why it would start now against a good team like the Tigers

I think the Yanks need to get on their toes because they are a better team. The Blue Jays? Oh good grief and terror. The Yanks need to stay on their toes. Goodnight Scooter. Red Sox should do pretty good there.

Right now, I'm imagining the Yankees are this snowball rolling down a snow-covered hill. No, make that a MOUNTAIN!
They just keep gaining momentum and this Sox Sweep just doubled the size of the metaphorical snowball. I think they're going to keep going until they crash into a boulder... Lol who knows what team will be that boulder? (I doubt it'll be Toronto)
As for the Red Sox... When it rains, it pours. That's all I'm going to say. Detroit is a fairly strong team... And when they come into Texas for a three-game set August 14-16... That's all I'm going to say. I don't want to jinx my Rangers lol.

1. The Yankees are on fire right now. They'll keep up the winning this week.
2. The Sox will probably keep up their slump. Detroit looked hot in today's game and the Rangers are doing well right now. They have a tough week ahead of them.
Night, Scooter! :D
