I think that the pen drive you bought is not original and it does not have the capacity as claimed. I have reports from my friends about such products at cheap prices. Better have it checked by a hard ware expert for the features. It is also likely that such USB products download viruses into your system. Beware .... Have a proper check before using it again.

As all these answer show, you have been fooled by the Dealer by selling you a "MADE IN CHINA" Pendrive.

You might have seen that there are upto 16 GB Pendrive which costs around Rs. 7000/-.

The pendrive that you have is probably 512 MB pendrive and their BIOS Setting is manipulated to show 16/32/64/80 GB Capacity.

I am damn sure that you might have got it in not more than Rs. 225/-.

Best Solution will be to throw away and get a branded Pendrive.

    The Cause maybe.....

    1. You've been fooled by the merchant there,because you're a tourist??

    2. It's damaged

    3. There maybe new viruses around, try scanning it with Kaspersky or Norton or any other well-known good anti-virus(never use free antivirus, they sucks!)

    4. How did you format it?NTFS or FAT?

    Help yourself.

    Arpana,

I don't think there is anything like a 80 GB pendrive.

The dealer must have cheated you by giving some faulty piece to you.

I would suggest you to change it immediately.
