Where is the best place to watch the 2009 Chicago Air and Water show?
I know that North Ave Beach will be packed... I'm wondering about Northerly Island. It is away from the beaches so it won't be the "centerpiece" spot... but it's a pretty large open area. It may be too far south though... What do you think?
Thanks for the posts... I actually got tickets to the Cubs game, so I'll be watching the portions of the airshow that I can see from there!

If you want to see the actuall "water" park, you pretty much have to be at North Ave. Beach/Oak Street. YOu really can see that stuff from anywhere else alnog the lake. It's all small stuff like boats racing or people waterskiing. YOu can be near McCormick place and see some 5-11 guy waterskiing too well.
For the air part, you can be pretty much anywhere in the city. I had a friend who would have a party each year at his condo in Wrigleyville and we'd sit on his balcony, drink beer and watch the jets.
However, one of these days I'm going up to the Signature Lounge in the Hancock and watch it from up there. I'm pretty sure it gets crowded up there pretty early but being that high up and watching the jets almost at eye level has to be pretty cool.

If you are interested in the air show portion get in the car and drive to Rockford on Aug. 22 or 23. They are having the F-22 Raptor as the main attraction. There will also be an AV-8 Harrier - civilian owned. Wanna kick the tires on a B-52 bomber? RFD is the place. How bout a B1-B bomber? flyrfd.com. How 'bout a B-2 flyover? Saturday at RFD. F-15 demos, FA-18 demos, a real wing walker too. -----> www.flyrfd.com
