Should Kasey Kahne be penalized?

I want positive answers,I have been watching Nascar for 12 years so I've seen my share of dirty driving but I have to say what Kasey Kahne did today has to be the dirtiest driving I have ever seen.Glad to see Jeff and Sam walk away but Jeff's back is injured again because of dirty driving. This could end one of the greatest careers the sport has ever seen sooner than it should. Jeff can only take so much pain, and the worst thing is Jeff was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'd have to see a better replay to offer up a better opinion. I didn't see Kahne's car get loose. He was right up next to Hornish, how could he get loose? Man, that front end did take off and jump left, though. Yes, it does look pretty incriminating. Kahne doesn't have a habit of dirty driving, so I'm all for it being "just racing". That is not a turn I'd want to run side by side through. I think somebody is jumping the gun and calling Gordon's career over, and even if it ended right now, I don't think you can blame one wreck. Gordon even admitted to going faster, instead of hitting the brakes to avoid.

Kasey is not a dirty driver and never has been. If he makes a mistake he owns up to it immediately and apologizes. Dirty drivers make excuses and lie about how it happened and that isn't Kasey. This was simply a racing deal. Jeff's back is already messed up and has been for awhile. If the pain was so bad he couldn't tolerate it he would get out of the car. It's not like he needs the money. He'll race as long as he can with his bad back. Did you hear any of the people taken out in this incident (Jeff included) say one bad thing about Kasey??? No they didn't because they know Kasey is a stand-up guy who races clean. Things happen. They can be upset at the situation but they can't be mad at Kasey.

Kasey Kahne just got lose, if you watch the video of the crash from nascar.com you can see the back end of Kahnes car slide (obviously a sign of getting lose), to me it dont look like a case of dirty driving. If you want to see dirty driving watch the video in the link below from Richmond a year ago.

I'm a very big Jeff Gordon fan. So I'm not sticking up for Kasey Kahne when I say it wasnt dirty driving.

Kasey shouldn't be penalized. Anybody who has ever suffered from a bad back, knows "if your gonna play, your gonna pay". If Jeff didn't get nailed at Watkins Glen, he would get nailed somewhere else down the line. It's his fans that wanna place the blame. But you can't. The human body doesn't last forever. I can't believe some of the stuff I've been through, so I know from experience. I won't go to a doctor either. Once you let a doctor mess with you, it only makes it worse. Jeff Gordons days are numbered. And it's the hardest thing to accept, I also know that, because your mind will make you continue to go through the motions, but your forever going to feel pain. I call it being a human projectile. It's hard to see this happening to such a great race car driver, but it's inevitable.

You know what. Let's just penalize everybody who causes a wreck. Who cares if it was completely unintentional! We don't actually want those guys racing out there! Kasey Kahne, you say you got loose and didn't mean to put Sam Hornish into the tire barrier. Too bad, you get a penalty! Dale Jr, you say your brakes just failed. I don't know, that seems like the perfect excuse to slam right into Reed Sorenson. You get a penalty!

Let's get real here. Kahne took the blame for the accident and said that he didn't mean to get into Hornish Jr, he just got loose. I believe him. NASCAR has a pretty simple system of giving out penalties for what happens on the track. If it was an accident, no problem. If it was intentional, you get penalized. There would have to be proof that what Kahne did was intentional and I don't see any.

I have to agree with everyone else who answered this question so far. Kasey got loose. I think he felt as bad about the wreck as Jeff Gordon and Sam Hornish Jr. did. Kasey has never had the reputation of being a dirty driver, in fact, I can remember one blogger criticizing him for being 'too genteel'.

    Hey,

The cause of the accident was not from the result of "dirty driving". The term "dirty driving" is more often referred to the word, "deliberate." This accident had no "deliberate" act whatsoever. Yes, Kasey Kahne caused the accident; however, it was not "deliberate." NASCAR is a sport where drivers RACE! They're not going to let everyone pass them. They are going to RACE them which is what NASCAR is ALL about! In racing, this accident is more-so referred to as a "racing incident." A "racing incident" is something that the driver has no control over such as a chain reaction, blown motor, failure of parts, loss of control due to certain conditions, etc. This, in my opinion, was considered a "racing incident" and therefore was not a "deliberate" act.

I say this with confidence because I have seen and know Kasey's character as this is not something that he does on purpose unlike some drivers out there that care less about who they effect. Also, Kasey "took the blame".

i don't think of that Hendrick is going to offer NASCAR's maximum uncomplicated driving force and the driving force that gets the main $ away. His merchandise sales supply that team a lot of money, that is used in direction of sponsorships and equipment. this must be a Kasey Kahne, Mark Martin, and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. question. Earnhardt, Jr. made so plenty additional money than Mark Martin final 12 months. to boot, Jr. became in all risk specializing in racing because of the fact he desires a sturdy run at Texas Edit: think of how plenty the team might desire to be distinctive without Dale Jr. on the team. that could additionally recommend much less status for the team, meaning much less followers routing for Hendrick, meaning much less merchandise sales for Hendrick's drivers, meaning much less $.

Um, NOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you not watch it? They were side by side. Sam was racing Kasey hard and had Kasey pinned down. Kasey's car got loose and he managed to catch it before both drivers hit the tires. Unfortunately, Sam's car was there, and he got sent to the tires. Kasey didn't mean to wreck Hornish, just like Junior didn't mean to wreck Sorenson, but does it appear as though they did? Yes. Neither deserves punishment, but both should give an apology, which both did.
