It's probably just the batteries.
One day me and my husband were having some lovin' time in bed together and there was a bag of our son's toys on top of the wardrobe.
Suddenly, a voice came out of nowhere! "I am Buzz Lightyear, I come in peace!!!!!!" The bag must have shifted slightly and set the toy off talking. It rattled out one phrase after another and we were wettin' ourselves laughin'!
Toys must have a sense of humour.

Loose contact. I had this same problem with a Megatron I own. Honestly, there is not much that has to go wrong: a single droplet of condensation in a circuit, and you have a short.
Not supernatural. If it bothers you, go get it and remove the batteries.
If it still makes music without the batteries, however, then you might have a ghost in the house that likes music.

It's broken. The spring for the button is getting old and no longer holds the triggering mechanism away. Remove the batteries.

The batteries need changing. They do that all the time when they are low. Take them out and then if they play you do have a problem.
