Amateur Radio Listening?

I was wondering what frequencies do I need to listen to in order to pick up on amateur radio transmissions, is it based on area or person. I know someones call sign how do I listen to when that person talks?

It depends on their class of license on what bands they may transmit on. Unless you have a clue what band they are on, you could spend "forever" trying to find them!
