Why does my new phone say "Insert correct sim card"?

I upgraded my phone, but kept the same tariff, on O2. My current O2 sim card wont work in the new phone, just says "insert correct sim card". Anyone know why? Or how I can fix it?

It's a brand new O2 phone, direct from the O2 website. There was no sim card included with the phone.

your new phone may be locked for a different network . you could either contact O2 or go to someone to get it unlocked

When you upgrade your number and tariff transfer to the sim card that comes with the phone so you need to be using the new sim card and not your current one. Make sure your contacts are saved to your handset and not your current sim.

    Hope this helps =)

Because you don't have the correct sim card in the phone... Bring it back to dealer and tell them you need the correct one - you'll prob want to get a sim card reader and get your information off of the original sim as well.
