Very annoying friend situationn.. helpp?

hellooo!

ok, yesterday, my friend wore some mascara and eyeliner and she never wears make-up and she looked pretty cool wearing make-up. so i told her that it looked really good. so today, i saw her at school and she had soooo much make-up on, i mean; blush, eye shadow, mascara, heaps of eye liner, lipstick, etc. she sorta looked like a cake face, (sorry! lol). when i went to sit with my other friends at lunchtime, they started making fun of her and saying mean things about her! this group is kinda like the 'cool' group i guess and so other people were copying them... i told them that they were being really mean and they shouldnt say things about my friend but they were just like 'we're joking! anyway it IS truee!'

(we are in grade seven btww!!)

should i tell my friend she looks bad with heaps of make-up, i dont want her to get mad at me?!!!
