Why do some celebrities with TV shows keep their first name?
I was just watching "Home Improvement" and thought of this, why is it that when some celebrities have their own show, they keep their first name? Tim Allen becomes Tim Taylor, Ray Ramono becomes Ray Barone, Reba McEnitre becomes Reba Hart, etc... And then you have people like George Lopez and Jerry Seinfeld who keep their real names in the series? Why do they choose to do that? Just curious... Thanks in advance!

Because unlike real actors comedians have a hard time pretending to be someone else or perhaps their egos are so large they want everyone to know their names.
