San Diego to Carlsbad -- is there a train or bus?

Take bus Route 992 from the airport to Santa Fe Station. It runs every 10 minutes and is a short ride

At the station take the Coaster train to Carlsbad. The train tracks runs along the coast and are sometimes yards from the ocean. Be sure to sit on the left and enjoy the view.
