Why do kids that are 13 and 14 date?

I was at the mall the other day and saw a two kids, maybe 13 or 14, holding hands, and snuggling. They're still children! Why do they date? It's not like they'll end up getting married. So why do they do it? To satisfy hormones?

I mean to each his own, and I don't mean to sound judgemental, but I just don't understand it.

Update:

Meagan and Cassidy. I'm not saying its not possible to fall in love at this age, but I'm just saying. The relationship you're in right now most likely will not last like Cassidy's parents' relationship did. If it does happen, it happens.

I just find dating at this age, leads to heartbreak and unnecissary pain.

Please don't think I'm saying you can't have a realtionship at this age, because you're entitled to it completely. (:

Just want to hear different views on the subject.

Update 2:

Actually, until you're 18, you're still a child, Megan.

Its so they can feel like they're all grown up. They really don't love the other person they think they do because of hormones. They basically will say yes to "going out with someone" and apparently saying, "do you wanna go out with me" now means they you are dating. What happened to going out with someone several times to get to know them before they go steady?

14 is still a child. You aren't emotionally prepared to provide for yourself. And although it is possible, more relationships started during the teen years don't last forever and if they do progress into marriage, end in divorce.

Ok so if you two, Megan and Cassidy, think you're really grown up, I'd love to see you try and live with whoever is close to you at the moment. Most people can't live with their significant other when they're fresh out of high school.

Because the parents that belong to those teens either are not aware of this or they don't care really, it like when parents send the kids off to church on sunday morning but they stay home, it is time they don't have to deal with the problems of the world at least from where i sit they seem that way

Searching for love and companionship that they aren't getting at home?

    Boredom?

To appear more grown than they are, but are too stupid to realize they look even more childish?

Edit - to Megan - Your a child. No matter what you want to call yourself. Push comes to shove...your still a child.

Love can be felt at any age as there is a ton of different types. Is the love you feel at your age the same type of love I feel for my husband? No. Not by a long shot.

im 14, and im not a child!

im a teenager, which is a young adult thankyou very much.

and i date someone because i like them,

just because we're younger than you doesnt mean we dont have feelings too.

it makes me SO mad how adults think its impossible to actually love someone at this age,

because that is like totally not true

    They think they're supposed to.

    Everyone's doing it nowadays.
