1,000 calorie intake?
If someone is 5'6" and 190 pounds and they cut down their calorie intake to 1,000 calories or less every day, how much weight would they lose in a week?

I only take in 500 calories per day. Roughly less than 1000. You will lose weight and see faster results if you exercise and often. I did it for about 20-30 minutes per day 5 days a week. It is possible to lose a pound a week IF you do it right. Replace breakfast with some steamed vegetables or fruit. Eat alot of fiber foods! Eat a good portioned dinner and drink nothing but water, not that sugar water but pure water. Treat yourself to a junk food ONCE in a blue moon, like when you are REALLY CRAVING IT. I have an entire box of reeses that I havent touched yet. Its good to keep it around because you are less likely to splurge on a junk food when you go out. It can be done, but you have to eat RIGHT and more importantly stay consistent. You also have to get yourself on a sleeping schedule as well. You need 7-8 hours. Studies have shown that pple that didnt get enough of sleep gained weight. I tried it and that is true. The less sleep I got the more the number went up on a scale. You also have to learn how to cook and cook healthy!

Samantha is correct - 1000 calories per day is literally a starvation diet. If you want to become healthy and lose 30 or 40 pounds by christmas do it slowly. Eat around 1600 cals per day and you will have to lose weight so long as you don't have a lazy lifestyle. Eat.

That's a tough question, because if you cut down to 1000 calories, your metabolism slows down. It takes 3000 calories to burn a pound of fat, but that's just the work it takes to burn fat. If you cut down to 1000 calories its harder for your body to do the work. At 5' 6" and 190 pounds, I'd say your body does more work than the average 2000 calories a day. Maybe 2500-2700. So cutting down to 1000 would suggest close to 2000 calories your body might need to do its work. So you'll find your body will be unable to keep your muscles strong, so you'll lose muscle weight also. I'd say 1000 calorie diet in one week at your weight and height, you may lose about 3-4 pounds, but that doesn't mean you are going to look thinner and fitter in the one week. If you keep doing it, you will look thinner, but certainly not fitter. 1000 calories isn't totally anorexic, studies have been going on recently for 1200 calorie diets, and I'd recommend at least that (1200 calories).
For the long term, I'd suggest to increase your calorie intake and add some exercises. If you exercise, light jogging or power walking daily, you can burn a good 400 calories in an hour at your height and weight (this is off the top of my head so don't quote me on it exactly, but around there). It'll also keep your body working and prevent your metabolism for slowing down. You may do better on a 1200 - 1500 calorie diet, with a daily jog or powerwalk for an hour. (You can start slowly 30 minutes powerwalk and go up from their weekly). Anyways. hope this helps.

Females should at least take in 1,200 calories a day, if you do that, then you should lose weight. You would lose about a pound a week.

you would prolly lose like 5 pounds a week... i was on a 650 calorie per day just eating grilled chicken patty and water, and i was losing 8 pounds a week.. It is really hard tho, you get tired and cranky alot lol

for that weight multiply it by 7 which goes to 1330, so it should be 1330 calories a day.

you'd probably gain weight because your body would go into starvation mode therefore slowing down your metabolism and storing all fat that you do eat
