    do you mean in a car, or recording. If recording, there is only so much audio you can put in before it clips, doesn't matter what sound it is. So once you have a nice, strong, clean level, then its all in the mix. You don't want the bass to overpower anything, you want it to blend. The bass frequencies will stand out and be loud all by themselves, cause most of the rest of music is up higher in the frequency range, So get a cooperative level with bass and kick sounds and blend with the rest of music from there, just don't overpower vocals. The problem a lot of people have recording bass, is that they have small speakers, and bass sound can't be properly reproduced. So they feel that the bass isn't loud enough, the only way of getting around that (other than getting another set of larger speakers) is to make a mix and go listen in a car, you can hear the mix much more realistically
