Out of all the non-fatal NASCAR crashes, excluding Michael McDowell's flip @ Texas in 07, which one is worst?

Any non-fatal crash can be included. BUT Michael McDowell's flip at Texas in 2007 cannot be included. We all know that the fatal crashes are the worst, so that's why I said NON-FATAL. And Michael McDowell's flip can't be included because I know alot of people will say that that one is the worst.

Davey Allison in 1992. Had a HUGE wreck. Flipped like 16 times. Survived. He later died in a helicopter crash when he was flying into Talladega.

Here's the YouTube video. I remember watching this when I was a kid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqJ2jft5hP4

This was one of the reasons they implemented the flaps to keep cars that turn sideways or reverse from catching air.

The 1990 Michael Waltrip/Mike Harmon wreck at Bristol Motor Speedway

It's a tie between Michael Waltrip and Mike Harmon at Bristol. Both drivers crashed into an opening in the outside retaining wall, which as far as I know is still there. The cars were completely torn apart. In Waltrip's wreck, the only thing left was the roof covering Waltrip's body, still in his seat. Harmon's wreck is on Youtube.

Both drivers should be dead, but they walked away without a scratch.

Geoff Bodine's truck wreck is a also at the top of the list.

This is a great list you have compiled but I can think of one more. Neil Bonnet at Daytona qualifying the #33 Chevy! It was a scary moment at the time until you saw him. Also, a scary crash would have been Steve Park in a Busch race. I believe it was at Rockingham. It put an end to an aspiring driver! Plus, to answer mikemusic, that driver that stood on the car was Jimmie Johnson. It looked like a very bad wreck and sure looked like it hurt! Oh, and hope about Ryan Newman,TWICE, at Daytona!!!

Waltrip and Harmon Bistol easily. Those cars completely disappeared! Most of the Superspeedway wrecks look much worse than they were. For the most part the car (roll cage) stayed together. The flips and turns are helping the driver by taking energy out of the crash, looks bad but much better than hitting and stopping!

Newman's flip in Daytona, DWs barrel, Geoff Bodine's truck series crash at Daytona, and the King's impact against the wall and debris flying everywhere.

Even though the Ernie Irvin crash at Charlotte in 1996 starts out rather benign it ends pretty nasty. After slightly hitting the wall, spinning and being tapped by Robbie Gordon he was almost stopped at the bottom of the race track when he was T-boned n the drivers door by John Andretti very hard.

This almost ended his career, and it was unreal that he was able to come back from it.

Richard Petty's barrel roll down the front straight away in Daytona 1998.

Michael Waltrip's wreck in 1990 at Bristol.

Those are the two I pick.

Source(s): But I digest..... Just my 2 cents.
