How do I pick a best answer when there is no option on the answer site to do so? Both myself and others have?

First you have to wait for at least 1 day after the question has been submitted.

Then you can go into your questions (as Jong Wook W explained), click on the question, and under each person's answer there will be a blue button that says "Choose as Best Answer". Click the button under the person's answer that you have chosen.

Don't wait too long though (I think 3 or 4 days is the longest you can wait if you haven't extended your question's expiration date), or your question will go to voting and you won't be able to pick the best answer anymore. You will only be able to vote on it.

I generally award "best answer" to the most useful answer. If two or more questions are equally useful then I look to who was more thorough. If two or more are equally thorough, then I look to see who had the best spelling and grammar. If more than one answer had good spelling and grammar, then I likely will choose whoever had humor in their answer or whoever is my contact.

If you ask questions, you have to wait for four (4) hours after asking the question in order to choose the "best answer." That's to give folks a fair chance to log in and find your question. Many of us log on and off periodically during the day and we may not be online when you posted.

Once the four (4) hours have elapsed, go back to view the question. You can do that by clicking on "My Profile" near the top the page, right hand side under the word "discover."

Once you're at your profile, look under your avatar (photo) and you'll see a list of all the questions you've answered plus a tab you can click to see the questions where you were chosen as "best answer," the questions you've asked and the questions you've starred.

Click on the word questions and you'll see the list of your questions, click the question and it shows you not only the question but all the answers. There will be a blue box under each answer. Click the box of the answer you liked best. You will get 3 points for choosing.

Be sure you pick the "best answer" before the time for answering expires or it'll be too late, it'll go into voting.

IF YOU DIDN'T ASK THE QUESTION, to vote on unresolved questions click the "answer" toolbar at the top of the page then click on the "vote" tab and it'll show you a bunch of questions in voting.

This will be possible only after your Q is 4 hours old.

After 4 hours of posting, you will see blue bars appearing below each Q.

The bar will have :

Choose Best Answer, written on it.

You will click on the tab under the answer you like. Follow instructions.

Like, rate the Q

You may make a comment about the answer or any other answer.

Then, submit it.

It is done.

Wait four hours after you post your question, click your avatar, this will bring you to your profile page.

scroll down to your "my questions"-- click that and your questions come up, click the one you want... . There will be a blue bar under each answer you got that says choose as best answer. Any level can choose best answer for a question they have asked and any level can vote on questions in voting.

Click on that blue button if you want to choose that answer as best answer, a new page comes up

Then your rate it 1-5 stars and write a comment in the space provided.. Click OK and it's Done. You receive 3 points for choosing and the best answer gets 10 points and 1 extra for each thumbs up to a total of 50, don't forget to give that answer a thumbs up (you can start giving thumbs up and down on level 2). *********A question goes to voting if you have not chosen a best answer after 4 days.Then you can vote for best answer and receive one point but there is no guarantee that the one you think is best will be chosen as the answer with the most votes will get best answer. You can also vote no best answer (no points given) and if that is the question with the most votes it is removed and the posters 5 points are returned.

Once you ask your question, wait 4 hours. After this time you will then notice a blue bar "choose as best answer" beneath each of the users answers. Simply select the answer you like the best and that is it.
