It depends. If you want to gain mass, then strength training, but cardio is always the better choice to do 1st.

You cant do enough strength training to make a difference if the cardio health isn't there. I say cardio. And work the strength in a little at a time, during the breaks.

I always do strength training first, because after I do the cardio, all I want is a shower.

All of these answers are WRONG...

Strength training should ALWAYS be done FIRST. This is because when lifting for strength you want to be able to put MAXIMUM effort into lifting because you will be able to lift more because you the beginning of a workout is when you have the most energy.

It's counterproductive to waste all of your energy on cardio then attempt to lift heavy weights.

    Source(s): I've been lifting for 10 yrs.

    Cardio.

  • No idea.

As I don't exercise as much as I should, (I walk to and from work,) I would need to get advice from my doctor. However, most of your answers so far are saying CARDIO so I'll just be a copy cat and agree with them.
