Who knows enough about Tolkiens work to help me out?

I have read The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings including all the appendices more than a few times and thought that I knew quite a lot about the 'Middle Earth stories'. However a friend and I were talking about the Lord of the Rings a few days ago and I waded in with some of my knowledge and he starts telling me stuff I knew nothing of. He tells me there are more books that I have not read. I want to read these. Can someone please tell me a)what they are called? and b)which order I should read them in?

Thanks in advance.

There's The Silmarillion (the history of Middle Earth before the events of the LOR)

Bilbo's Last Song (a poem written by Bilbo before he departs Middle Earth with the Elves)

The Adventures of Tom Bombadil (a collection of stories, myths and poems about Middle Earth)

The History of Middle Earth (published by his son, a massive history of the entire genre of Tolkien's universe.)

There are also a few random short stories and essays collected in various forms.

    UPDATE

Actually, Tolkienlibrary.com is where I got this list from. Great source :)

The History of Middle-earth is really just taken from Tolkien's notes, and it is mostly early versions of the published books. There is 'Unfinished Tales' and 'The Children of Hurin.'

Tolkien is hobbit forming. Possibly Silmarrillion.
