As you're not leaving the country you do not need a passport but you will need some form of ID. Call the airline and ask what they will accept.

You're not leaving the country so you shouldn't, but if bad weather were to force you to land in Bermuda or the Bahamas, you then would need a passport. Call the airline and see what they say.

the U. S. return and forth record has no longer something to do together with her expired passport. Germany might enable her in on the expired passport together with her green card, if so she needs to resume the passport there. If no longer she would be in a position to resume it interior the U. S., touch the German Embassy for training on a thank you to try this.
