Construction on the Kobe Crystal Tower (Building) was begun in 1991 and completed in 1993. The Tower is in use. It is located in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan. The Architecture was a joint venture of the Kajima Corporation and Nikken Sekkei, Ltd. The construction was done by four principal companies: Kajima Corp., Nishimatsu Construction Co. Ltd., Obayashi Corp., and Takenaka Corp.
The building has 32 floors of office space above ground; 2 basement floors; and reaches a height of 135 m. It has a helipad on the roof. The designs of Kawasaki's Infrastructure Division, a Division of one of the building's principal tenants, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., were used in developing openings in the sides of the upper portion of the building to improve airflow for helicopters landing on the roof.
