Why do you ask questions on Yahoo?

I notice that many (maybe as much as 50%) of the questions on yahoo consist of one of the following:

1) Questions for which the answer is known but is being asked just to ridicule others who have a different belief system.

2) Questions that could easily be answered simply by doing a Google search or looking at an encyclopedia.

3) Polls for which a few responses could never be representative enough to draw any conclusions.

4) "Cheating" by asking others to do your school homework assignments.

Perhaps I'm over generalizing, but If you ask one of these types of questions and would like to comment on why you do or want to add to the list, please respond. My personal opinion is that it seems that people just want to "socialize" on-line, but merely having people answer a question without much interaction doesn't seem too fulfilling. What do you think?

You left out "Am I pregnant." That probably covers the other 50%.

Okay. This is a deep question. For the first option, I never do, and i think it is wrong to do so. For the second one, I think people are just too lazy to search for a half hour or so. I do this. For the third one, it's the most fun to see what people say, even if it represents .0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000002 of the population. And the fourth one, people do that because they are lazy. It's interestig to hear what people say and compare it to actual research.

Furthermore, some questions are actually experience questions. For example questions concerning the Sims 3, retainer care, and how to clean pee off a carpet before your parents get home. In my opinion, Yahoo! Answers is a place for lazy, bored people who need some experience.

Its fun but people do take it a little far. Its fun to hear other peoples opinion, but not when they ridicule ur question saying how dumb it is or ask how dum why would ask that on answers when they can ask it on ask. Wow that made little sense. Thanks for the free 2 points.

I mostly ask people about fashion things, like what im going to buy and stuff.

    Its easier than googling...

5)Questions that are paragraphs long, that no one will actually answer.

alot of the questions i see are about a girl being fat or a guy and his penis. they only do it to show off. most people are probably just bored or our to damn lazy to look up the answer them selves. i like your question because it seemed well thought out. but why did you ask it?

i beleive people ask qs on yahoo because it is better to have three opinions than one because if you think the answer is write and two other people dissagree and have the same answeras each other. which brings me back to the fact that three opinions are truely better than one.
