Do you have a firewall? Then make sure that it is active and up-to-date.

Bluetooth is a personal wireless network, with a range of only about 33 feet. So you do not need to secure the Bluetooth, per sè, but what you need to secure is the network access.

If that also is wireless, then almost all wireless networks (such as WiFi, etc.) have some form of wireless security - usually WEP, or Wireless Encryption Protocol.

About the only thing that you can do is have a firewall on your PC and/or laptop, and you should also have some sort of virus protection for scanning your emails, since viruses can still penetrate the firewall.

And be sure to regularly update the virus definitions, because new viruses are being developed virtually every day, and the antivirus program can only defend against what it is aware of.

As for your other devices (cell-phone, etc.) that may be connected to your Bluetooth network: In the first place, those devices have their own built-in security.

But the key is to secure your WAP (Wireless Access Point), not the Bluetooth network.
